Welcome. This workbook was created with people like you in mind—people working on the ground, often balancing deep care for community with the realities of running programs, meeting deadlines, and navigating systems that weren’t built with us in mind.

You may already be gathering folks around food, ceremony, or advocacy. You may be reimagining how programs can reflect the strength and knowledge of Indigenous communities.

Wherever you are in that journey, this guide is here to support reflection, intention, and accountability.

Groundwork for Change Workbook is not a manual or a checklist. It’s a starting place—or maybe a stopping point—to reflect, reconnect, and root your work in relationships that matter. It’s meant to support teams and communities developing or deepening Indigenous food sovereignty efforts.

Inside, you’ll find reflections, prompts, and questions. They’re not designed to give you all the answers. They’re here to create space for deeper thinking—individually or collectively.

Use this guide however it serves you. Read it slowly. Return to it when you need to. Share it with your team. And most importantly, bring your full self to the process.

You're not alone in this work—and we're glad you’re here.
