37 organizations from across Canada join together to work for a healthy and fair food system.

We're excited to welcome our first group of Good Food Organizations — 37 of them! — spread across seven provinces and 28 cities and towns. By joining the program these Good Food Orgs are making a commitment to offering respectful, responsive, and impactful food programs in their communities as a way of decreasing hunger, building better physical and mental health, and reducing social isolation.

On October 22, 2014, 25 restaurants in nine cities across Canada came together with thousands of diners to participate in Restaurants for Change. The  first year of the event raised more than $100,000 to support established and developing Community Food Centres across Canada to offer important health- and equity-building community food programs like healthy drop-in meals, affordable produce markets, community gardens and kitchens, and education and advocacy programs. Funds will also support CFCC’s important national leadership work around food access, health, and community engagement.

Good food has the power to change lives. Through a good meal, you can express love and caring for someone. Getting your hands dirty in the garden can be a way to improve physical and social health, and to nurture the earth. Spend time in the kitchen and you can learn new skills, new food knowledge, and share cultures and traditions. Coming together over food can bring a community together. Food feeds and binds us in many ways, and it's those possibilities that we try to harness in all of our programs.
