There is a growing body of evidence that suggests that a healthy diet plays a central role in our mental health and a number of mental health conditions may be influenced by dietary factors. Food has been shown to play an important role in the development, management, and prevention of specific mental health problems such as depression, schizophrenia, ADHD, and dementia. And for those who face the daily stressors of poverty, food insecurity compounds the issue making it an even greater struggle to maintain mental health.

For this webinar, we invited two panelists to share their perspectives on diet and mental health, and its interconnectedness to poverty, food insecurity, and other marginalizing factors. Karen Davison, a researcher at UBC and Dietitians of Canada, shares her knowledge of the emerging research on diet and mental health; and Kristyn Dunnion, the Community Kitchen Coordinator at The Stop, speaks about how her cooking programs at The Stop support mental health.
