Hiring Range: $70,000 - $74,000

The Opportunity

Community Food Centres Canada (CFCC)  is a national organization that builds health, belonging and social justice in low-income communities across Canada through the power of food. We believe food can bring people together to build skills and improve physical and mental health, and create the opportunity for greater equity and social change. We provide ideas, resources and a proven approach to partner organizations so they can establish responsive, financially stable Community Food Centres that support people to grow, cook, share, and advocate for good food for all.

CFCC also works with the broader food movement to build greater capacity and to empower communities to work toward a healthy and fair food system. Our vision is a Canada that treats food as a basic human right.

CFCC has embarked on a $50M national campaign to develop community food centres in 20 communities across Canada, innovate new approaches to addressing food insecurity and advocate for positive change for low-income communities.

CFCC is seeking an experienced fundraiser to lead our national events portfolio. This role represents an opportunity for a collaborative relationship builder to play a major part in the growth of the good food movement through successful fundraising events. This role requires a motivated and passionate individual who is equally excited about the big- picture vision of what we are doing and the details of what is required to make it happen.

What You’ll Do:

  1. Lead and grow CFCC’s $1M+ event portfolio, including:

    -The Big Social, a national peer-to-peer fundraiser with a Toronto launch event
    -Chefs for Change, a ticketed dinner series
    -Third party events (3-4 annually)

  2. Own The Big Social host/diner/donor experience and lead recruitment, coaching, stewardship and retention

  3. Collaborate with Communications on event collateral and digital marketing campaigns to drive engagement and giving

  4. Work in partnership with Development to maximize revenues by securing cash and in-kind sponsors and manage sponsor activation and fulfillment

  5. Manage public engagement events (1-2 annually) and donor cultivation and stewardship events (2-3 annually)

  6. Lead relations with CFCC’s chefs and restaurant partners to further deepen their commitment to the good food movement

You have:

  • A university degree or a combination of relevant education and experience; fundraising education preferred

  • 7+ years of fundraising event and sponsorship experience, including previous experience with peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns

  • A background or interest in social change philanthropy

  • A track record with the design and execution of innovative fundraising events

  • Experience using  peer-to-peer fundraising platforms (Engaging Networks an asset) and with social fundraising strategies 

  • Experience with sponsorship sales and servicing

  • Demonstrated capacity in project management, including planning, executing, monitoring and reporting on results

  • Demonstrated ability to use data to inform decision-making; facility with technology tools and platforms

  • Proven ability to influence and motivate others, including volunteers

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • A valid driver’s license
